2. How much will Philip Rivers target Mike Williams?

One of the added weapons the Los Angeles Chargers are essentially adding this season is wide receiver Mike Williams. The Chargers selected Williams with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and he was far and away the best receiver in the draft class.

At the time, Williams looked to be one of the best vertical threats that the draft had seen in quite time and looked primed to become a number one caliber receiver as early as his rookie season. Of course, the Chargers do have Keenan Allen on the roster, which further helped Williams’ case to produce in year one.

However, the injury bug ultimately kept Williams from having an impact last season in the limited amount of time he did see the field. This season, Williams is fully healthy with a year of NFL experience under his belt.

Williams looks ready to emerge as the Chargers’ second-best receiver but may take some easing into before he becomes a reliable target for Rivers. It will be interesting to see how often Ken Whisenhunt uses Williams in the opening game and how often Rivers throws his way.

The Chargers are coming up against one of the worst cornerback groups in the league with the added focus on Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams deep down the middle. This could open plenty of doors for Williams in week 1 that could cause a huge breakout game for the sophomore.
