2. Rajon Rondo is only going to make Lonzo Ball better

Many questioned the signing of Rajon Rondo when it was first made. The Los Angeles Lakers already had a pass-first point guard in Lonzo Ball and had another ball-dominant player in LeBron James. Instead of Rondo, adding a three-point specialist point guard to come off the bench seemed like the wisest move the Lakers could make.

However, signing Rondo was actually a very smart move. It may not be the best move to make the Lakers title contenders this season but it is going to have implications that will be felt even after Rondo leaves the Lakers presumably after this season.

Rondo is such a similar player to Lonzo Ball and he is going to serve as the perfect mentor to Ball. Early in his career, Rondo was nearly the same player mold as Ball. He struggled to score on the outside but excelled in leading an offense, grabbing rebounds and was a sneaky good off and on-ball defender.

Ball may not be as good as a defender on-ball but he certainly is off-ball and has the same traits as Rondo.

More importantly, Rondo ran an offense that included three Hall of Famers in Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, at a young age keep in mind.

Teaching Lonzo how to be a young point guard on a super team is a valuable trait that the Lakers really could not have gotten anywhere else. Just having Rondo there to challenge and teach Ball is going to give him an even bigger edge over his peers.
