The Los Angeles Dodgers send Walker Buehler to the mound on Wednesday with the possibility of sweeping the Colorado Rockies in the teams’ last matchup.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies are in the midst of a huge playoff battle, each side vying to be the National League West Champions.

Wednesday night will be the last time the two sides meet in the regular season. Following this game, all that matter is how the two sides play the rest of the competition.

This last series between the two teams, which has been in Los Angeles, has been huge for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers had a definitive 8-2 win on Monday before Chris Taylor sent a walk-off home run into the seats in the 10th inning on Tuesday.

Now, the Dodgers have a game and a half lead over the Rockies and can extend it to two and a half with a win tonight. The Dodgers have three more games at home before a six-game road trip to end the year in Arizona and San Francisco. Colorado heads to Arizona after this series before finishing the year with seven games at home against the Phillies and Nationals.

With the Rockies finishing the season at home, the Dodgers need as much cushion as possible heading into that final week. Extending the lead to 2.5 games would be massive.

The Phillies and Nationals are no pushover, either. Assuming Colorado wins two of three in Arizona and the Dodgers win two of three at home against the Padres, the Rockies would have to make up 2.5 games in the last week.

Assuming the Dodgers go 3-3 against the Diamondbacks and Giants to end the year, the Rockies would have to finish 7-0 to beat the Dodgers outright. Finishing 6-1 would force a one-game tiebreaker.

We are assuming a lot of things here but if the Los Angeles Dodgers win tonight and just play decent baseball the rest of the way, the Rockies would have to be near perfect. Tonight is huge.

Here is who we think will lead LA to victory as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

Sarah’s pick — Current streak 0: Cody Bellinger

After last night’s AMAZING win over the Rockies, the Dodgers have taken over first and can solidify their place at the top of the division with a win tonight. So, that in mind, my pick for tonight is Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger is batting .300 against Tyler Anderson, tonight’s starter for the Rockies, with 2 RBIs including a home run. Bellinger has been playing pretty well the past two weeks and has walked more than he’s struck out over his past 7 games. I think that, with Walker Buehler on the mound for the Dodgers, Bellinger could be the one to help provide some run support.

Jason’s pick — Current streak 7: Justin Turner

I am going with my pick from last night and going with someone who absolutely dominates Tyler Anderson: Justin Turner.

Turner’s career line against Anderson is no joke and should be enough of an indication that he is due for at least one base hit in the contest. Turner has faced Anderson 26 times in his career, picking up 13 hits in the process.

Turner has three doubles, a home run, five RBIs and five walks against Anderson. His 1.248 OPS against Anderson is the best of anyone on the Dodgers with at least 10 at-bats against the lefty.
