2. JT Chargois

The Los Angeles Dodgers did not make a big reliever splash like the team did last season but brought in some key pieces hoping to mold them into trusted arms in the bullpen. Unfortunately, the two guys the Dodgers added to the bullpen have been bad and likely will not warrant a postseason roster spot.

The two acquisitions are John Axford and Ryan Madson, who have both been pretty bad in their short Dodger careers.

Axford has been the worst of the two and has essentially guaranteed that he will not see a role the rest of the season unless it is in a mop-up role. Axford has pitched five times for the Dodgers and has allowed seven earned runs in three and two-thirds innings. That is a 17.18 ERA.

Madson has not been that bad but has not been good by any means. Madson has seven appearances under his belt and six earned runs in six and one-third innings. 8.53 ERA.

Thus, the Dodgers are still trying to figure out who the trusted arm in the bullpen will be and the return of JT Chargois gives the team more options. Chargois was activated from the DL on Monday and can still make the postseason roster with some good appearances in the last week of action.

Chargois is going to have to prove that he is fully healthy and that he can make an impact. If he can prove that he is his normal self, the decision shouldn’t be too hard for the Dodgers to make.
