Los Angeles Lakers: Why LA’s bench is the best in the West
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers have a completely different bench from a year ago and will prove to have the best bench in the entire Western Conference.
The Los Angeles Lakers have a completely different outlook now than the team had in September of 2017. A year ago, fans were hyped up for rookie point guard Lonzo Ball and were salivating at the idea that the young core could somehow band together and be an eighth-seed in the Western Conference.
That obviously did not happen but the young core showed enough positive shines for fans to be assured that the future of the team was bright.
That future got even brighter when the Los Angeles Lakers signed LeBron James to a four-year contract. James is coming to LA in what should be the last chapter of his career and will reestablish the winning culture in LA.
Along with James, the Los Angeles Lakers brought in a slew of veterans to fill out a roster that had various open spots. These veterans not only give the Lakers needed depth but each signing also has a particular role and will serve as mentors to the young Lakers core.
In fact, while it is a strange collection of players, the Los Angeles Lakers have actually created a solid bench that is going to surprise a lot of people this season.
Not only is the Lakers’ bench solid but it is also going to be one of, if not the, best benches in the NBA. There is certainly some tough competition but these three factors make the Lakers bench that much better.
