The Los Angeles Dodgers have given up ground in the NL West and now need to finish the season with a sweep against the San Francisco Giants.

What else can you do? While the Los Angeles Dodgers could be playing better, the team is playing exactly how I thought they would following the Colorado sweep. Since the sweep, the Dodgers are 3-3 and will likely finish the season at least 5-4, if all goes to plan in San Francisco.

Meanwhile, the Rockies have not lost a game since the sweep and have moved into first place in the NL West by one game. While the Dodgers play the Giants, the Rockies will be hosting the Washington Nationals.

The Dodgers cannot take anything for granted and need to win the three games in the Bay Area. The Boys in Blue have Hyun-Jin Ryu, Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler pitching, so I like their chances.

The way the Rockies are playing though, Dodger fans should not expect a tie in the NL West. While we are certainly rooting for it here at LA Sports Hub, the way I look at it, the Rockies may not lose another regular season game.

However, the Dodgers still have a one-game lead in the NL Wild Card over the St. Louis Cardinals, who finish the season against the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs are playing for the NL Central so they are going to be playing the Cardinals tough. Two wins against the Giants should be enough to get the second Wild Card spot. But again, let’s hope for a sweep and hopefully the Rockies can drop just one game.

Either way, the offense is going to have to do a better job than it did in the final two games in Arizona. Here is who we think will get a hit, as part of our Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

Sarah’s pick – Current streak 4: Manny Machado

My pick for tonight is, who else, Manny Machado. I don’t think anyone will be able to forget how important these games are but, if the Dodgers don’t play well in San Francisco, they could miss the postseason.

None of us want that but they need to play their hearts out this series. My guess is the Dodgers don’t re-sign him but he could still help this team in October. But before he can help them in the postseason, he needs to help get them there.

The Giants have been out of contention for a while, but they’re still likely to send out their A-Team when playing against LA. The Dodgers have beat the Giants before, they can do it again. The season literally depends on it.

Jason’s pick – Current streak 1: Enrique Hernandez

Well, I am going to AT&T park for the first time in my life and I have to watch Dodger enemy number one Madison Bumgarner on the mound. While I sit here and write this in my AirBNB, there is only one person that is up for the MadBum task.

That is everyone’s favorite super utility: Enrique Hernandez. These are one of those picks you make no matter what and until Bumgarner shuts him down, I will pick him.
