Anthony Davis is the latest superstar to be heavily tied to the Los Angeles Lakers and would need to be traded for to join the purple and gold.

Ever since Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka took over the Los Angeles Lakers there have been a plethora of stars connected to the Los Angeles Lakers either via trade or via free agency.

Some of the connections were much stronger than others, with some so strong that it seemed like a foregone conclusion. Paul George was the biggest match as the hometown star was a free agent this season and had no luck with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, George opted to stay in Oklahoma City. Trade target Kawhi Leonard was never acquired due to the Spurs’ insane asking price and other stars that have been connected to LA fizzled out in one way or another.

The Lakers landed the biggest star in LeBron James and focused the attention on building a team around him and a crop of new rumored stars to bring in alongside him.

New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has emerged as the newest favorite to suit up alongside James. Davis left his previous agency and signed with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, who represents LeBron James.

That alone has caused a massive amount of speculation. The only problem is, Davis is not a free agent until the 2021 summer. The Lakers need to bring him in either at the deadline or next summer, which could get tricky.

The New Orleans Pelicans are understandably going to want to hold onto the team’s franchise piece as long as possible. However, there are a certain string of events that could happen to lead to this trade going down either at the deadline or next summer.

Here is what it would have to happen for the Los Angeles Lakers to trade for Anthony Davis.
