LeBron James is many people’s MVP favorite heading into the 2018-2019 season. Here is what James needs to do to win his fifth MVP.

The last player to win the NBA Most Valuable Player award for the Los Angeles Lakers was Kobe Bryant in 2008. Bryant is one of just four players to win the MVP award while wearing the purple and gold.

One of those past winners, Magic Johnson, came through on his promise of bringing a superstar to Los Angeles and brought MVP candidate, LeBron James. Not only is James going to increase the Lakers’ chances of success, but he is also increasing his own MVP odds by making the switch.

According to OddsShark, James is the betting favorite to win the MVP this season ahead Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo and reigning MVP, James Harden. James currently stands at +333 odds.

There are several reasons why James is the favorite to win the award. In fact, a few weeks ago, we went over what those reasons were that made James the betting favorite.

However, despite being the favorite, James still has to put together the body of work to win his fifth MVP award. The competition is certainly going to be tough for the award and James is going to have to separate himself from the pack with more than his great production.

Here are the three things that must happen this season for LeBron James to win his fifth Most Valuable Player award.
