4. Lance Stephenson picking a fight with Draymond Green or Kevin Durant

I think it is safe to say that many people were surprised when the Los Angeles Lakers signed Lance Stephenson to a one-year deal. The logistics of the contract make sense as it is the same contract that the Lakers gave several other veterans this summer as well.

In order to fill out the roster with experience and remain flexible for next summer, the Los Angeles Lakers exclusively signed one-year contracts with the likes of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson.

The biggest question was why Stephenson? Not only were there more productive options available in free agency but Stephenson also has an interesting history with LeBron James.

Stephenson has been one of, if not the, biggest rival of LeBron James. Although James is obviously the better player, Stephenson had that special ability to get into his head and stagger him a bit.

Perhaps the Lakers signed him so another team could not take advantage of his talents. However, I don’t think that it is. I think Stephenson was brought in to play the same role, this time towards the Golden State Warriors.

Stephenson is going to be the thorn in the Warriors’ side, particularly Draymond Green and Kevin Durant. Getting those two riled up and potentially out of the game would be huge for the Lakers in a postseason series.

And c’mon, it would be awesome.
