5. A trade for Nikola Vucevic

There are two superstars that have been thrown around as potential trade targets in Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard. And while the idea of acquiring either guy is certainly an intriguing one, I do not think the Lakers are going to make a move of that capacity midway through the year.

Plus, it would take either the Pelicans or Trail Blazers wanting to part ways with their stars. That is something that might not even be an option until next summer.

However, one deal that makes a ton of sense and would benefit the Lakers’ trade partner would be a deal for Nikola Vucevic. A Vucevic deal only seems like a matter of time, with or without the Lakers, although LA is the best destination for Vucevic.

With rookie center Mohamed Bamba now serving as the face of the franchise, Vucevic, who is on an expiring deal, becomes extremely expendable. Vucevic certainly is no all-star but would be a big upgrade at the center position from JaVale McGee.

This package would not cost the Lakers anything significant. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the obvious contract to send in return with a young asset, such as Isaac Bonga, and a future second-round pick or heavily protected first.
