Los Angeles Dodgers: Complete World Series comparison of both teams
By Jason Reed
Bench:
Los Angeles Dodgers:
The Dodgers will be rolling with a five-man bench in the games that Fenway Park and still have three former All-Stars to turn to. These are not far-off all-stars, either. Dozier and Grandal were all-stars in 2015 and Freese in 2012; plus, we know how good David Freese is in October.
This is not even a fair assessment of how deep the Dodgers are because there are going to be so many different looks in this series. The Dodgers have multiple guys that can play more than three positions and that leads to Dave Roberts having the luxury of dictating the matchups.
The Dodgers are built like the typical National League team. They are deep and matchup driven and will thrive in a National League setting when the Red Sox pitchers are forced to hit and Cora has to make some decisions.
Boston Red Sox:
The Boston Red Sox have a fairly talented bench as well with pieces that can come up in big spots for the offense.
However, like we already said, it is built like an American League team. These are good pieces to bring off the bench in certain matchups. The Dodgers have matchups to counter matchups to counter matchups.
What I am saying is that once you get past the initial line of defense on the Red Sox, Dave Roberts can weave his way, picking his spots when to use who and how to use who.
The Red Sox bench is definitely talented. However, I don’t think there is a team in the league with a more talented bench than the Dodgers.
