The Los Angeles Lakers have played five games, losing the first three and winning the last two. Here is what we have taken away from these five games.

The Los Angeles Lakers responded nicely from a 0-3 start and have won two consecutive games against the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets.

Most importantly, the Lakers have shown several great signs in the first five games of the season. Los Angeles has proven the hype true: the team is easily the most entertaining team to watch in the NBA.

With a fast-paced offense and plenty of interesting characters, it is hard not to watch the Los Angeles Lakers. We haven’t been able to keep our eyes off the team either and here are our five biggest takeaways from the first five games.

1. Lonzo Ball is the obvious option to start at point guard

Lonzo Ball started the year on the bench with Rajon Rondo starting the first three games. Ball was still recovering from an offseason injury and Rondo presented a nice veteran presence to put in the starting lineup.

However, with Rondo serving a suspension for his role in the brawl with the Houston Rockets. Thus, Ball has not only been thrust into the starting lineup but has not been playing on a minutes restriction.

While he has not been stellar, Ball has fit into the starting lineup like a glove and plays great alongside LeBron James.

Ball is not handling the basketball as often as he did last season but still has the elite playmaking in his back pocket alongside defense that is already borderline elite for a guard.

Ball brings everything that Rondo brings with one added bonus: he can shoot the three. While he was bad last year, a tweaked shot has led to Ball making 11 of his 27 three-point shots thus far.
