The Los Angeles Chargers definitely are realistic Super Bowl contenders this season, however, might need a little extra to secure a Super Bowl run.

The Los Angeles Chargers are in most people’s top-five power rankings with a 5-2 record through eight weeks of the NFL season. The Chargers are riding a four-game winning streak and with a relatively easy schedule, could finish the season with a record as good as 12-4 or potentially even 13-3.

That might be a bit optimistic but the Chargers have showcased one of the NFL’s most dynamic and explosive offenses and a defense that is only going to get better when Joey Bosa comes back from injury.

Making the postseason is no problem in the AFC. The AFC is fairly top-heavy and the first Wild Card spot seems like the floor for this team.

However, it is the elite tier of teams that the Chargers have not proven they could beat yet. The team’s two losses have come against the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams, the two best teams in the NFL.

Even just one win against one of those teams would make the Chargers a consensus top-two team in the league. While there are some decent matchups coming up, the team’s biggest test will be in Pittsburgh in Week 14.

Today is the NFL Trade Deadline and adding even one piece could be the difference between the Chargers beating these teams or losing to these teams. Here are three targets LA can pursue before the day ends.
