3. Janoris Jenkins, CB, New York Giants

Going back to the defensive side of the ball, adding Janoris Jenkins would accomplish all the same things as adding Jimmie Ward. There is nothing wrong with getting even better in the secondary and Jenkins would be a great second-option corner behind Casey Hayward in LA.

The New York Giants have already been active during the trade deadline and Jenkins is the most likely guy to be dealt next. The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly have interest in adding Jenkins, which could give the Chargers even more of an incentive to swoop into trade talks.

The Chiefs already have one of the most dynamic and dangerous offenses in the league with the defense being the team’s Achilles’ Heel. The defense is not terrible and adding someone like Jenkins would only make the Chargers’ job even harder.

Adding Jenkins knocks out two birds with one stone. Not only is the defense going to be improved but the Chargers would keep the team’s biggest competition from improving. It might be a bit trivial but it will have an impact as the two teams battle for the AFC West.

Next. Positives during the bye week. dark

The Giants won’t get a ton out of Jenkins but should get a somewhat decent trade package. I could see the Chargers potentially sending a third-round pick if trade talks get competitive. If not, a fourth-round pick might be the ceiling for Jenkins’ return.
