Team Cy Young: Walker Buehler

The 23-year-old Walker Buehler showed Dodgers fans a glimpse of the future as he burst on to the scene in the starting rotation.

Buehler, in his first year as a starter, led the team in ERA (2.62), was third in strikeouts (151) and lead the team in pitching WAR (3.4). Buehler seemed to shine the brightest in the spotlight; during the Dodgers tight play of race in August and September, Buehler went 4-1 with a 1.59 ERA striking out 80 over 68 1/3 innings.

Buehler started the three most important games for the Dodgers. He started the one-game tiebreaker against the Colorado Rockies, Game 7 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers, and Game 3 of the World Series against the Boston Red Sox.

The Dodgers went 3-0 in those games in part thanks to the outstanding pitching and poise by Buehler. In those three games, he went 1-0 with a 0.49 ERA and 17 strikeouts and 3 walks, setting himself up as the ace of the future.
