Los Angeles Angels

Yasmani Grandal went from the San Diego Padres to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the trade for Matt Kemp and could keep his Southern California streak alive by playing for the third and final So-Cal baseball team, the Los Angeles Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels are in a sticky situation. The team has gone all-in on contending alongside Mike Trout but still did not see the results they were looking for last season. That will make the Angels aggressive again this offseason and may result in the team paying more than they should for free agents.

That is music to Grandal’s ears. The Angels likely will be one of the teams that throws the biggest offer at Grandal and it would keep the catcher from needing to move across the country. The Angels should never be ruled out with Mike Trout and need a quality catcher and power-hitting bat this winter.

Yasmani Grandal fits those needs and would benefit greatly from hitting in a lineup with Mike Trout. Although he likely would not be directly behind Trout, with Justin Upton, Andrelton Simmons and Shohei Ohtani also in the lineup, things would be looking good.

If I had to pinpoint a single team to sign Grandal, I think the Los Angeles Angels have the best chance. However, I think there is one other team that is also in the running for Grandal for different reasons.
