2. Rich Hill

Again, this is another player that I would not want to see the Los Angeles Dodgers trade this offseason but it would not be overly surprising to see Hill get traded from the Dodgers before the 2019 season even begins.

Hill really got into a groove for most of the season and was exceptionally good in the postseason and nearly was a huge part of a 2-2 comeback in the World Series. Hill’s last performance of the year was a one-hit gem against the Boston Red Sox in which he arguably was pulled a batter or two too early, which ultimately cost the Dodgers the game and the series.

When that move was made I told myself that if the Dodgers lost the World Series that would be the moment I look back on and say what if. I hate that I am right about that.

Anyways, the argument for trading Hill this offseason is simple. He only has one year left on his contract and the Dodgers have quite a few options to round out the rotation with Hyun-Jin Ryu returning on the qualifying offer.

Most importantly, Hill is owed $18 million this season, making him one of the largest cap hits on the roster. If the Dodgers are interested in pursuing one of the megastars this offseason, the team will have to free up Hill in order to stay safely under the luxury tax.

Even if it is not for that reason, Hill could be a piece included in a deal for one of the Indians starting rotation arms. The two sides have reportedly engaged in talks and Hill would be a nice filler for the Indians without having to commit long-term.
