The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly shopping former all-star outfielder Yasiel Puig and the New York Mets are a potential team of interest.

The Los Angeles Dodgers trade rumors surrounding Yasiel Puig have grown from something that seemed like a far-fetched idea into something that legitimately could happen during the Winter Meetings or at any point in the offseason.

The idea of trading Puig, who is in his last year of arbitration before hitting the open market, started when it was reported by Ken Rosenthal that the Dodgers and Cleveland Indians were engaged in trade talks surrounding an outfielder from LA and a starting pitcher from Cleveland.

While no move has been made yet by the two sides, the prospects of trading Puig grew even more before the Winter Meetings began.

Dylan Hernandez of The LA Times reported that Puig was growing disgruntled with the Dodgers for his lack of appearances against left-handed pitching and was open to playing for a new team.

One of the potential new teams is a team that has already been active this winter in the New York Mets. Mike Puma of the New York Post reported that the Mets are going to at least check in on Puig.

Puig would fill in the third outfield spot for the Mets and would join fellow Cuban standout with a cannon arm, Yoenis Cespedes.

This sort of makes sense for the Mets, who could be trying to make one last push for the World Series with Puig offering a short-term investment that could have long-term repercussions.

The one big roadblock is that the Dodgers are going to ask for established big league talent in return, not prospects. That might not be something the Mets are willing to do, but if they are, here are three Mets players the Dodgers should target in a return for Puig.
