Los Angeles Rams take on fading Eagles in primetime matchup
By Hil Lopez
The Los Angeles Rams are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles for the second consecutive season with the Rams now being the two-loss team.
The Los Angeles Rams look to defeat the Eagles on Sunday night. They will be looking to rebound from a disheartening loss in Chicago last week. They were shut down, 15-6, in Soldier Field.
Jared Goff played his worst game of the season as he threw four interceptions and was harassed all day by Khalil Mack and the blitzing of Chicago’s linebackers.
Todd Gurley rushed for only 28 yards, and both Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods were held under 100 total receiving yards combined. The bright spot of the game was the defense, as they forced three interceptions and also forced Mitchell Trubisky under constant pressure.
Nevertheless, they will be hoping to get back on track against a Philadelphia Eagles team that is a mess. Carson Wentz is unlikely to play with a stress fracture in his back, something that takes around three months to heal.
Running back Corey Clement just went on the injured reserve list due to a leg issue suffered in their last game against the Cowboys.
Furthermore, the Eagles top cornerbacks Ronald Darby, Rodney McLeod and Jalen Mills are all on the injured reserve list. With all these injuries to the Eagles and their secondary, the Rams are set to expose them.
Todd Gurley and Jared Goff will be looking to rebound from their worst statistical game of the year. Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods will be looking to attack the Eagles early and often in the middle of the field as well as on the perimeter. Each of them have both reached 1000 yards this season with three games to go.
It will be up to backup Nick Foles to lead the upset against the Rams. Foles is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and made a couple stats earlier in the season until Wentz was ready for game action in Week 3.
He should be more than capable of taking reigns of the offense and will look to target star tight end Zach Ertz as Ertz looks to rebound from a subpar game.
With the Rams looking to secure home-field advantage in the NFC, they need every win possible to keep up with the Saints. With the Saints owning the tiebreaker, the Rams still need some help and need the Saints to lose a game.
Under the prime time lights Sunday night, they should rebound and take this game and simultaneously end the Eagles playoff hopes.
