2. Cincinnati Reds

By the looks of it, it looks like the most likely destination for Yasiel Puig this winter is going to be Ohio. Not only are the Cleveland Indians a fit for the Wild Horse, but so are the Reds. Like the Indians, there is already a connection with the Reds that makes this destination likely.

The two sides have reportedly discussed deals that would include Puig alongside Alex Wood. The idea of dumping Matt Kemp is also something that has been reported with the Dodgers taking on Homer Bailey in return.

Heck, the Reds could even be used as a third team in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Indians. Alex Friedman seems to have something up his sleeve and it is unclear what direction trade talks with the Reds are heading.

Either way, the Reds have a hole to fill in the outfield and Puig would obviously be a fit. It seems like the Reds are interested in adding talent this winter in order to give the team a shot at the postseason. If that is the case, Puig is an all-star-caliber outfielder that would help the Reds’ cause.

This also makes sense for the Reds as they have the wild card in their favor that could convince Puig to re-sign: hitting coach Turner Ward.

Ward will serve as the Reds’ hitting coach in 2019 and beyond after spending three years with the Dodgers. Ward re-invented Puig’s approach and has a very strong relationship with the Cuban outfielder.
