Every day that passes without a J.T. Realmuto trade it seems more likely that the Los Angeles Dodgers will make a move. However, the team should avoid trading for the Miami Marlins catcher.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are likely going to be parting ways with Yasmani Grandal, who declined the team’s qualifying offer to test the market. While there is a chance that Grandal could re-sign with the team, it is going to take a one or two year deal cheaper than he otherwise would have gotten.

That is unlikely and it seems like Austin Barnes is going to be tasked with the starting catching duties in 2019; unless, of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers make an external move to improve the catching position.

We posted an article earlier in the week saying that the Dodgers should not make a move for a catcher unless that is for J.T. Realmuto, who is one of very few catchers that have been better offensively than Yasmani Grandal.

However, with the reaction to the article in mind and after a deeper dive of the statistics, it is clear that the Los Angeles Dodgers probably should not deal for Realmuto, unless the Marlins want to give him away for significantly less than his value.

Here are the three traits that soured our thoughts of Realmuto and why the Dodgers shouldn’t be interested in him.
