Corey Seager’s 2018 was cut drastically short when the Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop had to undergo Tommy John Surgery in early May.

It has seemed like forever since fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers have been Corey Seager manning shortstop and hitting second in the lineup. Dodger fans grew accustomed to Manny Machado, who was acquired at the Trade Deadline and will more than likely be signing with another team in the coming days/weeks.

With Machado gone and Seager hopefully healthy by Opening Day, the Dodgers are getting their true shortstop back and a bat that they missed dearly. While Machado was a nice addition in July, Seager still has a more well-rounded game that fits this Dodgers’ lineup perfectly.

It is understandable to be wary about Seager. He did have two surgeries, one was Tommy John and one was arthroscopic surgery on his left hip in August. The understanding is that Seager will still be ready to go by Opening Day.

Dodger fans should be immensely excited to see Seager return to the lineup. He was not great at the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018 because of his nagging injuries but he still is the foundation of this entire team.

He has taken a bit of a back seat while he has been out but he is still the Dodgers’ top superstar and will be the face of the Dodgers for many years to come. Perhaps that is why the front office is not buying in on Machado or Bryce Harper in free agency.

We should all expect fireworks out of Corey Seager in 2019. Here are three bold predictions for the all-star shortstop.
