The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots are squaring off in Super Bowl LIII with a storyline that practically writes itself.

The Los Angeles Rams went through the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints while the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Royals to get to Super Bowl LIII.

The road for both teams was not easy and both teams have drastically different identities and backgrounds entering this game.

The Los Angeles Rams are the new team on the block; the team with a young head coach and quarterback that are just now starting their tenure in the title picture. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots are the grizzled veterans, who many believed no longer had a shot at the Super Bowl.

On the surface, this appears to be a showdown between two vastly different teams. However, the parallels between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots are as strong as any other Super Bowl matchup in recent memory.

Despite having different identities here in 2019, the Rams and Patriots are a lot more similar than both sides think. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are looking in the mirror at Jared Goff and Sean McVay and could be looking at the team that officially ends the Brady-Belichick era.

Let’s run through the parallels between the two teams and you’ll start to realize how similar these two teams really are.
