Super Bowl LIII: The storied history of Los Angeles vs. Boston

The Los Angeles Rams will square off with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII in a matchup that is all-too-familiar with both cities.

When it was determined that the New England Patriots would face the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, almost immediately a narrative was born — Los Angeles versus Boston.

The Patriots themselves got in on the act when they faced the Los Angeles Chargers in the divisional round of the playoffs.

This Super Bowl means that for the first time the same two cities face off in more than championship of the same season, as we were just here in October when the Los Angeles Dodgers met the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.

The World Series was a short five games but closer than expected adding itself to the long rivalry and history of LA teams versus Boston teams. With the Rams and Patriots matched up there is no doubt Super Bowl LIII will also add itself to a similar legacy.
