Anthony Davis has requested a trade and is front and center in all of the Los Angeles Lakers rumors, however, it is not a guarantee that he goes to LA.

The Los Angeles Lakers have officially started the process (at least we assume) to get a second superstar in Anthony Davis to play alongside LeBron James. We all knew all along that the Lakers were keen on bringing in a second star and it has been speculated since before the season even began that Davis would be that second star.

With Davis’ agent Rich Paul, who also represents LeBron James, stating that Davis will not sign the super-max extension and wants out of New Orleans, it only seems fitting that he can go to the Lakers.

While the Pelicans ultimately have the final say in where Davis goes, the superstar does have a ton of leverage as he can make it clear what teams he will sign an extension with past the 2020 season.

As good as Davis is, there are not many NBA teams that are going to go all-in on Davis knowing that he could potentially be just a one-year rental.

However, there still are teams out there that are more than willing to take that risk. We have all heard about the Boston Celtics or New York Knicks potentially being in the running for Davis. Here are three sleeper teams that could look to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis.
