2. Patrick Beverley

Patrick Beverley is another guard that is on an expiring contract that would be worth looking at for the Los Angeles Lakers. Like Lin, Beverley’s numbers are fairly low and he is in arguably the worst season of his professional career. At the same time, he is averaging the fewest minutes since his rookie season.

The Los Angeles Clippers still have a surplus of guards and Beverley is a prime candidate to be traded since his contract is expiring. This would give more time to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and could even open the door for Jerome Robinson to get better playing time.

Beverley makes sense as a point guard for the Lakers due to his defense and how he fits into the offense. Beverley has never been a guard to run the offense and facilitate with ease and the Lakers wouldn’t be asking on him to do that as that falls on LeBron James.

His contract is relatively small and the Clippers probably wouldn’t want a second-round pick for him, although that is what the Lakers should push. However, I would be okay with seeing the Lakers send Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk alongside Michael Beasley for Beverley.

Beasley is an expiring contract and Mykhailiuk is a rookie with the upside of being a sharpshooter that won’t see that much time on a contending Lakers team, regardless.

The biggest question here is if the Los Angeles Clippers would be willing to do business with their LA counterpart.
