Los Angeles Dodgers: Mind-boggling facts about the 2019 Dodgers

3. Clayton Kershaw could realistically pass 15 Hall of Famers in WAR this season
The trendy thing to do nowadays prior to the MLB season is talk about all of the Hall of Famers that Mike Trout can pass in career WAR with yet another good season. It is remarkable as well as Trout still is only 27 years old.
While he is a bit older, three years to be exact, Clayton Kershaw is also making his climb up the all-time ranks in career WAR. Right now, Kershaw has a career WAR (on Baseball-Reference) of 62.1. That is the 52nd-most all-time and Kershaw is still only a ripe age of 30.
If Kershaw can have another Clayton Kershaw-like year, which he is more than capable of doing when he is fully healthy, there are 15 Hall of Fame pitchers that are within his reach in career WAR.
Those Hall of Famers are Dennis Eckersley, Dazzy Vance, Mickey Welch, Ed Walsh, Stan Coveleski, Roy Halladay, Bob Feller, John Smoltz, Vic Willis, Ted Lyons, Jim Palmer, Amos Rusie, Red Faber, Don Sutton and Carl Hubbell.
There are some very recognizable names and some others from the early 20th century. Either way, it would take a 6.7 WAR out of Kershaw in 2019 to pass all of those guys.
That should be easily obtainable for the southpaw if he can return healthy and stay healthy throughout the year. At only 30 years old Kershaw should still have a lot left in the tank and has a ceiling of 10 WAR.
That would not make him pass any other person on the all-time list but either way, Kershaw would move to 30th on the all-time rank.
