1. Gavin Lux, SS/2B

Every so often I get super excited about a prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. The last two prospects that I was overly excited about were Corey Seager and Julio Urias, as were everyone else (sorry, Cody Bellinger).

I have that exact same excitement for middle infield prospect Gavin Lux, who made the MLB Pipeline Top 100 Prospects list as the 70th ranked prospect in baseball.

Lux should be the Los Angeles Dodgers long-term plans at second base and could even be the long-term plans at shortstop if the team plans on moving Corey Seager to third once Justin Turner leaves. This spring, you will see why.

Lux looked so advanced in the minor leagues at the plate this season and looked like he could have stepped up in the MLB and gotten some good knocks in. Lux has a smooth swing a la Corey Seager that naturally produces gap-to-gap power with 20 home run potential.

Lux is fast on the base paths and has the instincts and hustle to be faster than he really is. His approach at the plate is like Max Muncy and his charisma on and off the field is that of an MLB player.

Lux looked the part in the minor leagues last season and is going to look like every other big leaguer this spring. While he will probably still start in double-A Tulsa, a strong showing could excel Lux’s progression, especially if the Dodgers need a middle infielder come July.
