Cold Seat

Doc Rivers

Give credit to coach Rivers. Despite being picked to finish outside of playoff spot to start the season he has the Clippers knocking on the door of the playoffs. He has a young hungry team that plays to the last whistle.

The Clippers showed evidence of the impact of their coach coming back from 28 points to beat the Boston Celtics on the road. What made the task even bigger is the fact that the front office traded Rivers’ best player Tobias Harris before the trade deadline.

Rivers may not lead the team to the playoffs but the job is probably his until he decides it’s time to go.

Warm Seat

Dave Roberts

The first manager in 40 years to take the Los Angeles Dodgers to back to back World Series should have some security, especially after extending his contract through 2022. But after the criticism Roberts faced when the Dodgers lost those back to back World Series even an extension won’t keep him safe.

It’s likely another division title keeps Roberts safe for another year but as the title drought extends and the years come off the extension Roberts will have less and less security until he gets that elusive World Series title.
