Los Angeles Lakers: Why Luke Walton won’t be fired during the season
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Lakers are under .500 this late into the season and have many thinking that the team is going to part ways with its head coach, Luke Walton.
The 2018-2019 Los Angeles Lakers might be the worst team that LeBron James has been a part of since his rookie season. Los Angeles is under .500 after nearly 60 games played, which is unprecedented for a LeBron James-led team.
We all talked about how bad the Cleveland Cavaliers were last season and LeBron was still able to will the entire team to the NBA Finals, before losing to the Golden State Warriors, of course.
James has even had some bad supporting casts in Cleveland that, on paper, should not match up to this team. I get that the best players aside from LeBron are inexperienced but this run is alarming.
There is something to be said about the time that James missed as well as Lonzo Ball currently being out. Missing both of those guys is a part of the reason why the Lakers are struggling.
However, there has also been some pretty bad coaching, some questionable rotations and a team that seems to have no passion on the basketball court.
A lot of that could be due to the trade rumors around Anthony Davis during the NBA Trade Deadline. However, if a team is lacking intensity and seemingly the will to win, it can be put on the coaching.
Luke Walton is on the hot seat, that is without question. However, Walton probably at least has job security until the season ends. Here is why.
