2. Glover Quin, S

This one might be a bit more of a stretch as reports surfaced that the Detroit Lions would be willing to cut Glover Quin if he did not retire this offseason. Practical wisdom would tell us that the Rams should simply wait until that move is made so they can sign Quin for a smaller contract that won’t be as big of a cap hit.

However, instead of risking the chances of Quin signing with another team, the Los Angeles Rams can make sure that Quin comes to LA and just take their medicine with the cap hit. I understand the cap is important to NFL teams, but one year of Quin won’t break the bank or hurt the team in the long term.

It makes sense for a non-contending team like the Lions to want to save money. The Los Angeles Rams should be spending it while they still can.

Quin has a $7.9 million cap hit in the final year of his contract and did have a down year last season. However, his stat line is still respectable and he could be a huge veteran presence at safety if the Los Angeles Rams lose LaMarcus Joyner to free agency.

There definitely are other routes available at safety. The Los Angeles Rams could use a second or third-round pick or even open the pocketbooks and sign Joyner. However, if the team just wants to give up a seventh-round pick (which would likely be all it takes) then so be it.
