The Los Angeles Dodgers are (hopefully) getting a full season of Corey Seager after the shortstop underwent Tommy John Surgery last May.

One of the biggest storylines for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Spring Training is how Corey Seager is coming along and recovering from his Tommy John Surgery.

Videos of Seager at the plate and fielding ground balls have been circling twitter with each Dodger fan getting excited to see their favorite shortstop back in action in the 2019 season.

All signs are pointing to Seager being ready to go by Opening Day, which is great for the Dodgers. However, it would be perfectly understandable if the team wants to wait a few weeks to make sure that Seager is fully 100 percent.

When Seager is fully healthy and back into the fold his impact on the Dodgers is going to be brought back into the spotlight. Although the Dodgers did replace him with Manny Machado of all people last year, it is still hard to replace Seager and the impact he has on the team.

He is the engine that moves the Dodgers’ lineup along and without him, it can be hard to score runs.

Machado is a great player and is elite offensively but in his time with the Dodgers, he did not hit for as high of an average nor get on base as often. He did have better power numbers, but he fell into the same trap as most of the Dodgers as power or bust.

Seager is so important to the team because he sways off of that path and instead offers up a consistent bat that consistently plates good at-bats and can get on base in a plethora of ways.

His offensive style is perfect for this lineup. He does what other Dodgers don’t do while also providing power as well.

Just look at Cody Bellinger, for example. The reigning National League Rookie of the Year had more plate appearances with two outs (226) than one out (214) and no outs (192).

Why? Because the top of the order was producing more outs. The Dodgers did not have a traditional lead-off man and were missing the bat of Seager.

Seager is not going to field as many outs and is going to be on base more frequently for Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger.

Who is the most important bat in the Los Angeles Dodgers? Realistically, it is Corey Seager.

Next. Bold predictions for Cody Bellinger. dark

If Seager has a great bounce-back year in 2019, chances are we could see the Dodgers flirt with 100 wins yet again.
