Odell Beckham Jr. trade rumors just won’t go away and just like they were last season, the Los Angeles Rams are in on the fun.

Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the most polarizing athletes in America and the speculation around him is nonstop. Despite signing an extension with the New York Giants prior to the 2018 season, the trade rumors around Beckham will not slow down, which include the Los Angeles Rams.

Of course, most of it is just trivial internet things that we take way out of context. The most recent example of this is Beckham’s comment on a Tom Brady Instagram post that has many drawing connections between the two for next season.

News flash: the New England Patriots would never trade for Beckham and take up his contract. That is not how Bill Belichick operates.

Another internet thing that has probably been taken out of proportion is a somewhat cryptic tweet from Beckham that has some thinking that he wants to be a Ram.

If we are being completely honest, we do not think this has any connection to the Los Angeles Rams. If the Rams were going to make a move for Beckham it would have been last offseason; the team didn’t.

What does it mean? I don’t really know. It could have some GOAT connotation (greatest of all time) or just be a master troll job from the Pro Bowl wideout. If he was a free agent and could choose his destination that is one thing. This doesn’t mean anything.

However, just to have fun with it and go along with the trend, we thought we would give our input on what it would take for the Los Angeles Rams to trade for Odell Beckham Jr. It might surprise you with who is involved and what isn’t involved.

If the Los Angeles Rams were ever to trade for Beckham this would have to be the trade package. It is an interesting one and is unlike most trades we see in the NFL.

The New York Giants have made it clear that they did not sign Beckham just to trade him. However, if Beckham voices frustration and makes it clear that he does not want to be a Giant, there may be no other choice.

Granted, NFL players do not have the power that NBA players have. Just look at Le’Veon Bell‘s situation.

But let’s just say the Giants bite on that because they did sign Beckham to an extension. The team would undoubtedly be asking for an established wideout that is under team control for some time. That is where Brandin Cooks comes in, who signed an extension with the Rams prior to this season.

But that is where this gets weird because if you look at the numbers Cooks is only marginally worse than Beckham and was better last season. However, Cooks also has had Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Jared Goff throwing him passes. Beckham has had an aging Eli Manning.

But since Cooks’ numbers are only marginally worse than Beckham the Giants cannot ask for a boatload in the return. There shouldn’t be a first-round pick involved and even the second-round pick might be pushing.

However, with equal quarterbacks, Beckham is the more talented receiver. So it would be an upgrade.

And the best part of this deal? The Los Angeles Rams would probably never do it. Beckham hasn’t painted himself in the best light and the last thing the team should want to do is potentially mess up the chemistry for an upgrade that isn’t that significant.

Three valuable cheap trade targets. dark. Next

But if the Los Angeles Rams happen to love Beckham, that is the deal to make.
