Los Angeles Lakers: Three bold predictions for the second half
By Jason Reed
1. LeBron James matches his triple-double total from the first half
LeBron James is no Russell Westbrook when it comes to recording triple-doubles but he does get his fair share of box score-filling games. James has not put up many triple-doubles this season with the Lakers and enters the All-Star Break with only five triple-doubles on the year.
There are still only four players that have more than LeBron, so it is not like he has fallen far down the ranks. James Harden, Ben Simmons, Nikola Jokic and Westbrook are the only players to record more than five. Jokic and Westbrook are the only players with 10.
We think that LeBron is going to have an absolutely insane showing in the second half of the season that is similar to the way he willed the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Playoffs last season.
With that in mind, we think that LeBron is going to get in double-digits in points, rebounds and assists five times in the last 25 games; one for every five games.
That might seem like a stretch at this point of LeBron’s career but he is certainly capable of it. LeBron just isn’t as big of a stat sheet-stuffer like Westbrook and only fully commits to recording triple-doubles when it helps the team.
