The Los Angeles Rams could be losing free agent safety Lamarcus Joyner this offseason. The silver lining: there are plenty of great options to replace him.
The Los Angeles Rams have a few potential holes to address this offseason, most of which are concerned with the defensive side of the ball. Wade Phillips defense could potentially be losing two impact players this offseason in Ndamukong Suh and Lamarcus Joyner.
It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Suh sign with another team considering he signed just a one-year deal with the Rams for the sole purpose of playing alongside Aaron Donald and contending for a Super Bowl.
Suh still was not as good as he was when he was a Detroit Lion but does have value on the market. With Aaron Donald’s extension kicking in this season, the Rams likely won’t be able to match any offer that Suh gets, unless he takes a pay cut to stay in LA.
Lamarcus Joyner is in the same boat as Suh and it appears as if the safety might leave LA. The Rams franchise tagged him in 2018 and won’t franchise tag him again this season.
While the Rams might be more willing to pay Joyner the kind of money he asks for, there is a chance that another team overpays Joyner.
The silver lining with Joyner is that the safety market is fairly deep this year from the top of the line players to players that can be signed with a discount.
Some of these players might never enter discussions with the Rams due to money but they should still be considered. Here are three great potential replacements for Lamarcus Joyner that would serve as upgrades.
