Jachai Polite, round one

Jachai Polite is one of the most intriguing linebacker prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft and is definitely going to go in the first round, especially if he falls to the 31st overall pick and the Los Angeles Rams.

Walter Football, who does a great big board for every position for each NFL Draft, ranks Polite as the second-best outside linebacker behind Kentucky’s Josh Allen, who realistically could be picked in the first five picks.

Walter Football also has Polite going in the top-25, which is about right for the Florida Gator. Polite likely will be selected somewhere in the 20s. One team that could really use him picks three picks ahead of the Rams, the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, if Polite somehow falls a handful of selections the Los Angeles Rams should not think twice about selecting him. We see this every year, certain talented players fall a bit farther than everyone expected only to land on the perfect fit, like Derwin James with the Chargers last year.

Polite is best when defending the run and would be a huge factor on first and second downs. Not only that, but he should success at rushing the passer in college. Coming off the edge in blitz packages with the menacing interior line is going to produce results.

With some added weight, Polite is going to give the Rams the closest thing in the NFL Draft to the player they traded for last season, Dante Fowler Jr.
