3. Lavonte David, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Before trying to trade for Jamie Collins the Los Angeles Rams might as well take a swing at Lavonte David from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. David has not been in trade rumors, as Collins has, so the Buccaneers are probably not looking to move on from one of the team’s best defensive players.

However, we all know how important the cap is to NFL teams and David is taking up a significant portion of the cap. If the price is right, it would not be all that surprising to see the Buccaneers move on from David.

David would serve a near-identical role as Collins would if the Los Angeles Rams were to trade for him. He is not the big-bodied defensive end type outside backer that is only going to rush the quarterback in early downs.

No, instead he is a versatile backer that can play all four downs, can be surprisingly decent at rushing the quarterback and would be a huge help dropping into coverage and stopping the run.

David also had over 100 tackles last season and has had triple-digit tackles in every year except 2016, where he recorded 87.

David is a one-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro and deserves many more Pro Bowl honors. He does kind of get lost playing in Tampa Bay and moving him to the limelight on the Los Angeles Rams would undoubtedly help his career.

Two years of David would be great for the Rams and he is certainly worth the $20.5 million cap hit over the next two years. For David, the price would be a bit higher and would likely include a 2019 third, 2019 fourth and 2020 second.
