3. Andrew Friedman always works in silence

This offseason has not been as prevalent for this trend but for the most part, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman tend to work in silence when they make significant moves.

Nobody saw the trade for Matt Kemp last offseason, the reported trade package for Manny Machado was way off from what it actually was and even the trade for Yu Darvish was much different than anyone expected.

Russell Martin was not a talked about trade chip until the deal actually happened and Joe Kelly was nothing more than a potential target. The trade with the Cincinnati Reds was briefly reported before it happened, as was the Pollock deal, but it is never this stream of information.

Everything around Harper has been this flooding dam of information that it is hard to believe that it is legitimate reports. These reports are surfacing for a reason. Perhaps to force the Phillies, who are going to be a threat in the National League, to pay more. Perhaps it is a Boras’ leak to drive the interest up on Harper.

Either way, the Dodgers are usually quiet about what they are doing and intend to do and Dave Roberts publically commenting on the meeting is a bit odd.

Where there is smoke there is fire, I get that and the Dodgers likely wouldn’t go all the way to Las Vegas just to get to know Bryce Harper. However, the entire nature of the reports is so unlike past moves that it is hard to see the trend breaking now.

Next. The positions that the Dodgers should platoon. dark

If I am wrong that would be awesome. While I have never banked on it, I obviously would not mind seeing Bryce Harper in Dodger Blue. Either way, you shouldn’t get your hopes up.
