Trade #2:

This trade would help the surplus of wide receivers if the Rams were to just send picks for Brown but would lose the team’s current top receiver in Brandin Cooks. Brown is obviously an upgrade from Cooks, though, so the team will be better.

The Pittsburgh Steelers might not prefer a deal like this but if no other team is offering high picks the Steelers would be much better off taking a late first-round pick and a receiver that the team can fit in and replace Brown and keep under contract in Cooks.

JuJu Smith-Schuster looks primed to break out as the team’s best receiver and become one of the best receivers in the game and that is fine. Cooks does not have to be the best receiver on the Steelers but would set up a dangerous 1-2 with Smith-Schuster.

Cooks has been getting better every year and is a huge vertical threat that would be getting plenty of targets from Ben Roethlisberger. His speed can even find him in the slot and would allow the Steelers to run more jet sweeps and wide receiver screens.

As for the conditions on the Steelers’ second-round pick, it all depends on Antonio Brown’s performance. The two sides can agree to performance conditions on Brown’s 2019 campaign.

If Brown has over 1,500 receiving yards then the Los Angeles Rams don’t get the pick. However, if he doesn’t, the team would get the Steelers’ second-round pick, which would essentially serve as a pick swap (like we see in the NBA).
