The Los Angeles Chargers have been tremendous in recent NFL Drafts and could continue that success with a smart trade in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been extremely, extremely good in recent NFL Drafts, especially in the first round. Nobody that the Chargers have taken in the first round has been a miss, which is a big reason why the team posted a 12-4 record last season.

It started with Melvin Gordon in 2015. Gordon has had some bad injury luck but he is the best running back that the team has had since LaDainian Tomlinson and proved in 2018 that he is easily a top-five running back in the league when healthy.

Joey Bosa was selected with the third overall pick in 2016 and has lived up to all expectations. His 2018 was short because of injury but Bosa is already one of the best left ends in football and is already putting up numbers that could soon win him Defensive Player of the Year.

Mike Williams was selected with the seventh overall pick in 2017 and it appeared as if he had bust potential. His rookie year was cut short because of injury and his time on the field was not great. However, he showed in 2018 that he is the rightful heir to Keenan Allen in Los Angeles.

Finally, arguably the best pick of all four, Derwin James was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. James somehow fell that far to the Chargers and became one of, if not the, best safety in the game.

James missed out on Defensive Rookie of the Year honors because of Darius Leonard‘s incredible rookie year but James will have the biggest long-term impact of any rookie taken in 2018.

The point: the Los Angeles Chargers are great in the first round of the NFL Draft. If the team makes any of the following trades it will certainly pay off.
