Why the Los Angeles Chargers would do it:

The Los Angeles Chargers would essentially be this year’s version of the New Orleans Saints if the team were to go ahead with this deal. Last year, the Saints sent two first-round picks to move up in the draft to select Marcus Davenport. If there is a prospect that the Chargers love, why not move up.

Chances are that the Chargers are going to be as good, if not better, next season than they were in 2018 so that pick will likely fall in the bottom five again. Trading a future first-round pick without that certainty is risky but it would be worth it for who the Chargers could select.

The perfect fit for the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round is Clemson defensive tackle, Dexter Lawrence. The Chargers are alarmingly thin at defensive tackle heading into the offseason and it appears as if the team is geared up to draft at least one in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Lawrence would fit on this defense like a glove. He is at his best when he is a big-bodied run stuffer that can plug the running lanes. He has the size and manpower to be efficient at this in the NFL and would be a nice presence as Bosa and Melvin Ingram rush off the ends.

Lawrence is no slouch at using his manpower to get to the quarterback, either and it going to benefit by playing alongside arguably the best edge rush in the NFL. This would certainly be worth it.
