The Los Angeles Lakers extended the losing streak to three games against the Los Angeles Clippers and have fallen four games under .500.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a chance to turn the season around after the all-star break and could have easily gone on a run to start the second half to catapult the team back into the playoff picture.

Instead, the team has sunken farther down the standings with the playoffs beginning to feel like an unobtainable goal, if it wasn’t already.

The Los Angeles Lakers lost, 113-105, on Monday night to continue these woes. Not only was it the team’s third consecutive loss, but it also was a meaningful game as the Clippers are part of the competition at the backend of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.

The Lakers now find themselves six games behind the Clippers and five and a half games behind the San Antonio Spurs for the eighth and final seed. With only 18 games remaining, it would take something miraculous for the Los Angeles Lakers to gain grown and make the playoffs.

Monday’s loss to the Clippers might have been the final dagger. It very well could be the loss that convinces the team to rest LeBron James and just look towards next season.

And everyone knows that the Lakers are going to be trying to make significant moves in the offseason to make sure this does not happen again. Here is how missing the playoffs will affect the Lakers’ upcoming offseason.
