2. Trade option: Danny Trevathan

Arguably the best option of the three listed in this article, Danny Trevathan would be a huge boost to the Los Angeles Rams defense and would undoubtedly be an upgrade over Mark Barron. The best part? The Chicago Bears trading Trevathan is a legitimate possibility and not a pipe dream that Ram fans have to hold onto.

The Chicago Bears have a lot of questions around the cap heading into this season with Trevathan being one of the obvious names that the team might look to move to free up space. Although effective, Trevathan is on the last year of his contract and it would not hurt the team long-term.

Trevathan is due for a $7.65 million cap hit next season, something that the Bears likely cannot afford. And while the Los Angeles Rams are saving money by releasing Barron, adding Trevathan would not be that much higher than the team would have paid for Barron, anyway.

Plus with the Bears’ salary cap situation the Rams could probably get away with sending a third-round (or even later) pick for Trevathan. One mid-to-late round pick for a guy that has been great over his last few years? Sign me up.

Trevathan had 102 combined tackles last season and has hit triple digits in every full season that he has played in.
