1. Enrique Hernandez

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners played what had to be one of the quickest baseball games in recent memory (which I was present for, the game flew by). The final score of the contest was 2-0 and took just over two hours to complete.

Talk about pace of play.

The only offense of the entire game was two solo home runs from Enrique Hernandez. Those were Hernandez’ first two home runs of the spring and it might seem as if there is a bit of recency bias.

There isn’t. Hernandez has been great this spring and is winning the every day second base job. Hernandez is hitting .435 (10-23) with eight RBIs and a 1.288 OPS. Granted, this is not against the best pitching the league has to offer but is a great sign for Hernandez moving forward.

Hernandez was already considered to be an everyday guy at the end of the last season and much more than a utility southpaw specialist. A poor postseason kind of derailed the hype but many are excited for what Hernandez can do this season because of his spring.

He and Chris Taylor are the two fighting for the job and Hernandez has done everything he can to make sure the decision is easy for Dave Roberts.
