Los Angeles Dodgers: The biggest storylines for the second half of spring
By Jason Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers are about halfway through spring training and have some notable storylines to watch in the second half of spring action.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have completed 16 spring training games and have a 9-7 record thus far. Counting the team’s one remaining split-squad day, the Los Angeles Dodgers have 15 games to go in Spring before Opening Day on March 28 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It is getting to the point in spring where the rosters are starting to narrow down and the team is making its cuts. Most of the non-roster invitees have been sent to minor league camp with the biggest focus being on positional battles and replacement guys that the team will need to call up during the year.
Of course, there are exceptions to this and prospect Tony Gonsolin proved that on Monday when he spun three perfect innings in his start. Is Gonsolin going to be on the Opening Day roster, or even close? Absolutely not. He is an exception.
The games are going to get more interesting with more big leaguers involved and the storylines are going to intensify as well. While spring training games do not matter, they can be very useful in deciding who wins a platoon or who makes the big league club.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have more compelling spring training storylines than last season and here are the three biggest to watch for.
