Los Angeles Dodgers: Predicting position player WAR leaders for 2019
By Jason Reed
2. Justin Turner
Next on the list is Justin Turner, who is probably the most popular player on the Los Angeles Dodgers and certainly is the most clutch. Turner is not your everyday superstar either as the Dodgers got one of the best steals of the decade, turning a replacement level signing into a guy that has proven he is a deserving all-star.
Turner would have likely been named an all-star for the second consecutive year in 2018 if he did not sit out the beginning of the year with a broken wrist. Upon his return, he proved he was the motor of the team and helped will the Dodgers back into contention.
Turner is a guaranteed lock to be a .300 hitter. Turner has some of the best plate vision in the entire league and is not one to chase out of the zone. Throw in the fact that Turner always manages to put the ball in play and you could make the case that he is the best two-strike hitter in the league.
Turner very well could finish first on the Dodgers in WAR but that honor is going to go to another infielder. However, yet another great offensive year and the defense to back it up is going to leave Turner with a WAR that he is certainly proud of.
