If LeBron James were to get traded (again, it is highly unlikely) then the San Antonio Spurs are one team that he would likely be fine playing for. Yes, it would kind of derail his Los Angeles lifestyle, as would any trade on this list, but it would be favorable for LeBron as he would finally get to play under Gregg Popovich.

More from LA Sports Hub

James and the Miami Heat had two battles against Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals that pinned one of the greatest players of all-time against one of the greatest coaches of all-time.

LeBron and Popovich have a public friendship and respect for each other despite being on opposite ends of countless wars. This would be a combination that is so deadly to the NBA, giving Popovich his last three-year stretch of contention.

The Spurs would be trading their best player in this deal as well as a young asset that could bloom nicely in LA but it would not take away from the team being contenders. LaMarcus Aldrige would play a fine sidekick to LeBron and with Popovich’s coaching and regime the Spurs would be scary.

There is a chance that Popovich does not return to coach the Spurs. The coach has said that he is unsure if he will be the coach of the Spurs next season.

Next. Why Kawhi Leonard will never be a Laker. dark

LeBron would obviously be enough to convince him to keep coaching. But what is more exciting for Laker fans is the idea of Popovich replacing Luke Walton as head coach next season. Now that would be something.
