Los Angeles Lakers: Trades that open with a top-four pick
By Jason Reed
Damian Lillard has a lot of parallels to Anthony Davis despite being a completely different player. Lillard is another young superstar that has not yet seen his best days that is playing in a small market that has not led to playoff success.
While the Blazers are an interesting team to watch and could theoretically make it to the Western Conference Finals against the right teams, they are still not good enough to beat the Golden State Warriors and this is the best the Blazers have been.
This might lead to Lillard, much like Davis, asking for an opportunity to play for a title contender. And while the Lakers are riding a playoff drought, a team with both Lillard and LeBron would be elite.
It is just like the Kyrie Irving-LeBron relationship, except Lillard is arguably better.
In return, the Blazers would be getting a point guard that could thrive in the right situation and has already proven that he, at the very least, will be an All-Defensive team player in the future that can average double-digit assists per game.
Josh Hart and Moritz Wagner are two interesting young pieces to fill out the depth and a top-four pick is obviously extremely valuable.
Meanwhile, the Lakers would have a big three of Lillard, LeBron and Ingram and can start Kyle Kuzma in a smaller lineup. Add a three-point specialist shooting guard and a rim-protecting center with the remaining cap and that is a solid team.
