Los Angeles Lakers: Three positive takeaways from this season
By Jason Reed
1. Brandon Ingram began to make the steps towards being an all-star
Hopefully, Brandon Ingram can have the future in the NBA that he deserves. He was shut down for a Deep Venous Thrombosis in his arm. This is a condition in which a blood clot forms in a deep vein, and while it is somewhat common, it could also be dangerous if not treated correctly.
Everyone is hoping that this will not have long-term implications not only on Ingram’s playing career but more importantly, his long-term health. At the end of the day, basketball is just a game and it is not worth Ingram risking anything significant to play basketball.
It would be a shame though to see his playing career take a step back as Ingram was starting to show that all-star potential that the Lakers drafted him on in the 2016 NBA Draft. Granted, he still was in just the third year of his career but many Laker fans were growing impatient with the process.
Ingram was playing legitimately great basketball when LeBron James was out and was the best guy on the court in most of those nights, including some of the games that LeBron James returned for.
Ingram averaged a career-high in scoring and overall field goal percentage this season and was averaging 22.5 points per game from February 1 to the time of his injury.
Laker fans did not get a lot of chances to see a completed product on the court, which included an improving Brandon Ingram.
