Opening Day is officially upon us, which means it is time for us to start our annual Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series.

It has seemed like forever since we have last seen the Los Angeles Dodgers in action. That wait is finally over as Opening Day is upon us and the Los Angeles Dodgers are facing off against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Last season we started a Los Angeles Dodgers Beat the Streak series, in which an old contributor, Sarah Maninger, and I would make daily selections for who we thought would get a base hit for the Dodgers.

Sarah has moved onto FanSided’s main MLB website, Call to the Pen (go check her out here!!!) and I am now by myself, so I have decided to turn the selections over to you, the reader.

Every day our Twitter account (@LA_SportsHub) is going to be tweeting out a question: who do you think is going to get a base hit tomorrow for the Dodgers?

The first person to respond each day is going to be considered the “twitter selection” for the day. Basically I am competing against you, the readers, who all have a chance of having a say.

Of course, this is only going to be as fun as we all make it and we need everyone to get involved! Turn your tweet notifications on if you need to because each Twitter selection is going to be mentioned in the article.

Without further ado, let’s get into our first selections of the year:

Jason’s pick (Current streak: 0): Corey Seager

I could not go with anyone other than the man that has been out of action for quite some time, Corey Seager. It is going to be a beautiful sight to see Seager back in action and there is not a doubt in my mind that he provides fireworks in his first game back from Tommy John Surgery.

It also helps that Seager is pretty good against the guy that he is facing on the bump, Zack Greinke.

Seager has six hits in 14 at-bats against Greinke, slugging two home runs, a double and four RBIs. I can already see it now: Greinke tries getting a low fastball by Seager, who blasts it the other way for an extra-base hit to start my streak off right.

Twitter’s pick (Current streak: 0): Justin Turner

Gus Iglesias gives Twitter its first pick of the year, going with the Red Dream himself, Justin Turner. It is not a bad pick either, as Turner had the best batting average on the Dodgers last season and is no slouch against Greinke.

Turner does not have as good of an average against Greinke as Seager does but is 10-28 lifetime against his former teammate with three doubles, a triple, a home run and six RBIs.

Next. Mistakes the Dodgers cannot make in 2019. dark

Not a bad pick to start the series off and if you want to get in on the fun make sure to follow us on Twitter and watch out for that daily tweet, usually coming in the afternoon.
